More about me

Nico Obligacion is a queer, Filipino-American graphic designer currently studying at Portland State University. They design like they’re archiving a feeling — mixing bold visuals, personal narrative, cultural context, and a little chaos. Their work lives somewhere between structure and softness: sometimes grid-tight and intentional, sometimes messy and emotional on purpose.

They're into the kind of design that feels like something. Not just pretty, not just trendy — but real, layered, and rooted in identity. Think zines that unpack generational trauma. Campaigns that call out the model minority myth. Visual storytelling that says “this is mine” and invites others in, too.

Print is their love language. Typography is their toolkit. They're all about tactile design, mixed media, scanned textures, and breaking the grid when the grid doesn’t get it. They're not here to follow the rules — they're here to question who made them in the first place.

Catch them designing in 18 open tabs, romanticizing their own drafts, and turning lived experience into something you can hold in your hands.
